What difference does 5 seconds make?

Now this is not a smutty joke about the actress and the bishop and neither is it reference to my driving habits.  It is referring to the fact that Thursday’s swim training was when I pushed the reps of 100m swims from 1min 45 secs down to 1 minute 40’s.

‘No big deal’ you might say, to which I’d reply ‘you try it then’ – no seriously what ever your swimming ability and whatever is your tome for your 100m then have a go at setting a new goal, …shift the marker, …raise your game,  …set the bar at a new hight – I believe it was Einstein who said that the definition of insanity was doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.  So if you are in training, if you are practicing to be good at anything make today the day you take a different perspective on what you can achieve, a different mindset on ‘what good looks like!

As for my session, yesterday, I did 3 sets of 10 x 100’s – made all the splits, still swam each 100 on about 1minute 120, but really felt the heart rate increase with approximately 20 seconds rest in stead of 25.

Tomorrow – Back to Dover!
